The 100 Top App Review Websites and Blogs in 2024

Published in
Key takeaways:

Your app is created, and you’re waiting for the downloads to start. But, you aren’t seeing much activity, and there has only been a few downloads, with no clear sign that it’ll pick up.

You may have missed one of the essential elements of every app launch or promotion campaign: pitching journalists and bloggers and inviting them to try your app, review it, talk about it or tweet/retweet about it if they like it.

By pitching journalists and bloggers, you can get your app reviewed by legitimate and well connected sources. This will have a strong effect and increase your downloads, thanks to word-of-mouth marketing, and allowing you to connect with their audience as well as your own.

Many journalists and bloggers are influencers, which has been shown to have up to 11x higher ROI than traditional advertising methods. Even though pitching over 100 journalists or bloggers to get your app reviewed may sound like a monumental task, it’s going to be worth your time if several of them do write a review.

How to Get Results

Here are a few quick tips on getting the best results from reaching out to app reviewers.

Personalize

You can create a template message but writing a personal and customized email to each of these will always bring the best results - take time to get to know who you are writing to.

Personalization will always bring the best results – we highly recommend taking time to get to know who you are writing to!

Find Relevant Targets

One of the hardest parts of getting started with marketing your mobile app in this way is finding relevant people to pitch to. There are thousands of journalists, bloggers, and influencers online, and it’s unrealistic to think you can pitch them all.

You may find that some of the writers are aligned with the content of your app, in which case you stand a great chance of getting your app reviewed by them, and getting a good rating from them!

Follow Up

Don't quit if your first pitch doesn't get a response. People can easily miss your message, or mean to get back to you but get distracted.

Wait a few days, then send a polite follow-up email reminding the target of your pitch.

Don't overdo it - you don't want to send 10 emails in a week badgering your target. But one or two follow-ups will help get a higher response rate.
